Bert Olson grew up in Detroit Lakes, MN and graduated from Concordia College in 
Moorhead, MN in 1979. He worked asa CPA with McGladrey and Pullen before joining
The First National Bank in Sioux Falls in 1983. He also has an MBA degree from the
University of South Dakota, graduating in 1986.
He current works as Vice President and Trust Officer with responsibilities in corporate
trust and retirement plans. Most of his clients include public organizations issuing tax
exempt debt for building projects including hospitals, cities and school district.
Bert’s family includes his wife Cindy who works as a registered nurse, son Derek, step-daughter Becca and granddaughter Suriena.
Bert’s Rotary journey began in 1998 when he traveled to Japan as part of a Group Study Exchange team from District 5610. It was a life-changing experience! Bert joined Rotary shortly after his return and serves as President of Sioux Falls Rotary North during the 2007-2008 Rotary year.
Bert and Cindy participated in the Rotary Open Golf Championship held at St. Andrews, Scotland in 2006 and played in the International Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2004.
Bert has also attended Rotary International Conventions-Chicago in 2005 and Salt Lake City in 2007. For the past ten years, Bert has served on the District Group Study Exchange Committee, many years in a leadership role.
Other past service activities included Sioux Falls and South Dakota Habitat for Humanity, South Dakota Symphony, Broom Tree Farm and the Sioux Falls United Way.
