District 5610

The chief officer of a Rotary district is called the district governor, and each of these 528 governors is considered an officer of the international organization. Typically, a district consists of about 45 Rotary clubs; District 5610 is comprised of 41 Rotary clubs. The governors serve one year, providing leadership and guidance to help clubs strengthen the programs of Rotary within the district. A District Leadership Plan allows for the appointment of assistant governors to help with this task. Within District 5610, we have ten assistant governors. The areas are geographically distributed so that the assistant governors can maintain frequent contact with their clubs without having to commit extensive traveling time. Assistant Governors serve as resource persons for their clubs as well as the liaison to the district. Specific contact information about the Assistant Governors may be located in the Leadership section.

Annually, the governor convenes a conference, lasting three days, to further Rotary's program within the district. The next District Conference will be September 12-14, 2008 in So Sioux City, Nebraska.  The conference provides a venue for fellowship, for exchange of information and ideas, and for opportunities to help shape the direction and activities within our District. The conference can also legislate on matters of concern to the district and may consider special matters submitted to it by the RI Board. It is empowered to propose legislation for consideration by the triennial Council on Legislation.

District 5610 has a number of committees who provide leadership and expertise on a variety of projects and activities. These committees are always seeking new members. If you're interested in learning more about any of the committees - or - if you'd like to become involved at the district level, please feel free to contact the committee chairperson. Committee chairpersons are listed in the Leadership section.
