Ed Jacobson
District Trainer
Born in and completed school through high school in Astoria, Oregon, oldest American settlement west of the Mississippi.
Graduated from Oregon State University in 1967 with a BS in Business Administration. While there served as editor of the student newspaper.
Spent two years traveling for my college fraternity, hit 125 campuses in 45 states in two years.
Worked for a brief time as a news editor on a weekly newspaper, then went to work for the Oregon State Department of Education. Spent three years working for an Oregon Congressman before starting work as a fund raiser and executive for a series of nonprofit organizations including Goodwill, Kidsports (youth sports org.), and Junior Achievement in Eugene, Oregon.
Started COACHING IDEAS consulting business in 1989.
First joined Rotary with the (downtown) Eugene, Oregon Rotary in the mid-80's. He was a member of the (then) 250-member Eugene Rotary Downtown Club.
He came to South Dakota on a fund raising consulting job, met a redhead, married her, and moved to Pierre permanently in 1992. He continues to do consulting work, mainly with associations and non-profit organizations. He is a past president of the Pierre-Ft. Pierre Rotary Club and currently serves the club as its executive director.
He and his wife, Sandy, are avid golfers.
