I just got back from the International Assembly for final training to be the District Governor (again) 😁.  It was another great experience, and I brought back some great ideas for the coming year.  The theme for this year is Unite For Good.  Another descriptive theme for what Rotarians do all the time!

We also spent the week talking about Rotary’s Action Plan.  If you haven’t looked at it for a while, please do so.  The four priorities are exactly what our club’s need to focus on to increase membership, increase retention, and to make a bigger impact in our communities and the world.

The big push for the coming year will be membership.  At this time, our District is down 10 members from the beginning of the year.  I am asking all clubs to put in an extra effort to end up Plus 1 for your club’s membership.  The Membership committee has done a great job of putting some tools and ideas you can use to help increase membership and retention.  It’s on the District website.  Take a look!!  Increasing your club’s membership is critical to your club’s success.  Not just to have more members but to have more hands to do your projects, more ideas on new projects and fun things for your club to do, more donations to The Rotary Foundation to do more good in the world, new leaders for your clubs, etc., etc.  We can’t be complacent on attracting new members if we want our clubs to survive.

Think about it, who will do all of the projects that your club does now if your club wasn’t there?

Thank you for all you do in your communities and the Impact that you make around the world.

In Rotary,

Bruce Nearhood
District Governor
