RYLA Camp 2024 had 12 students attend from five Rotary Clubs in our District:  Watertown, Luverne, Sioux Falls, Pierre/Ft. Pierre, and Spearfish.  Read on to get a report of what's happening next!
  1. RYLA Camp 2024 – 12 students attended. The five clubs (Watertown, Luverne, Sioux Falls, Pierre/Ft. Pierre, and Spearfish) have all been reimbursed the 50% (or $225 per camper) and the drivers have each received their $100 to/from reimbursement.
  2. The District continues to reimburse clubs 50% of the cost to send each student. There is no plan to increase the RYLA cost from $450 for the 2025 camp year.
  3. The driver stipends are not expected, but are extremely appreciated by all, especially by the past RYLA campers who interviewed and were then selected as Junior Counselors who paid their own way to RYLA camp (and as counselors incur other expenses such as treats for their team). Continue the driver stipend.
  4. Goals for RYLA 2025:
    1. Maintain a RYLA representative from each club in the district.
    2. For RYLA camp 2025, receive 20 applications for RYLA, understanding last minute conflicts come up, but then shooting for 16 or 17 students from District 5610 to attend RYLA.
    3. Each club who fills out a Club Commitment form and does not send a RYLA student will be asked to send in a sponsorship to RYLA from $50 on up to their commitment of $450/per RYLA student they committed to sending.
  5. Continue to work closely with our District Student Exchange chair with RYLA-rians who posed interest in becoming an exchange student.
  6. Camp 2025 is tentatively scheduled for July 7-11.
